Spirituality

The Gnostic Order of Christ is a group of Esoteric Christians based in San Jose.

The Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC) is an initiatory organization of mystics that traces its lineage back to the Egyptian Mystery Schools. The Rosicrucians were a pivotal force in Europe during the Enlightenment, and eventually came to America to help in the Great Work of enlightening humankind with Cosmic Consciousness. I am currently an 8th degree initiate.

The Other Side is an Internet Community that I have helped manage for several years. The group was originally focused on Novus Spiritus and Sylvia Browne, but I helped widen the scope to Gnostic spirituality in general. I wrote almost all the pages on the web site and still moderate the message boards, though I do not post nearly as much as I used to. The managers of the site and I have a goal to make this community a really positive place to come to on the Internet, and although there have been some sad schisms over the years, overall I think we've done a pretty good job with it.

Bible Gateway provides a fully searchable online bible in many languages and translations.

Learning the Tarot: An Online Course - I found this site while looking up a certain tarot card one day, and have gotton a lot out of it. There are detailed yet succinct descriptions of each of the cards and positions, as well as a very good and thorough explanation of how to put it all together and get the most out of Tarot.

Magic

The Direct Magic Library of Knowledge is an informative and fascinating site on the practice of magic through direct manipulation of energy, and why ritual is often unnecessary. There is plenty of food for thought here for practicing magicians.

Sacred Magick Esoteric Libraryis a great site with several forums and articles. It has especially valuable resources on evocation.

Lucky Mojo Curio Company in Forestville is the Hoodoo shop that I worked at for a couple of months. There is a lot of fun, interesting and useful information on this site, and you can access and order anything in the store from there too - in fact, most of the customers we dealt with while I was there were from the Internet. Hoodoo is a very practical magical tradition, with both postive and negative magics based around the use of plants, candles, the intercession of saints and spirits, psalms, seals, and other curios.

Nightshade Magic offers a lot of the hard-to-find supplies that are needed by ceremonial magicians and summoners but which you can't get at most New-Age/Wicca/Fluffy Bunny occult stores; things like metal circles for seals, custom ritual tools, and spiritual ensigns and banners.

The Hermetic Library is full of insightful works by several excellent mages - however, a lot of the information might be pretty arcane, so I wouldn't recommend this domain for beginners.

Abramelin on Yahoo Groups is for the serious practitioner of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage. The group was formed by and is maintained with the help of those who are either undergoing the operation or have successfully completed it.

Solomonic on Yahoo Groups is run by Aaron Leitch, author of Secrets of the Magical Grimoires, and contains diverse resources and discussions for all aspects of the Medieval European Solomonic Grimoire tradition of magic, and its growing modern revival.

Enochian.org is maintained by the owner and propriator of Nightshade Magic, Athena, and has a number of insightful articles on various aspects of the Angelic magic revealed to John Dee and Edward Kelley.

Aaron Leitch's Homepage is full of well researched articles on several magical traditions, and the first chapter of Secrets of the Magical Grimoires is available for free perusal.

Twilight Grotto Esoteric Archives is Joseph Peterson's online library of medieval grimoires and other magical texts - all available in PDF! Peterson has edited beautiful new published editions of many of the texts, including the complete Lemegeton (Lesser Key of Soloman) and John Dee's Five Books of Mystery (ie, the OTHER HALF of Enochian magic).

Martial Arts

Aikido Heiwa is Sensei Will Holloway's school in Lynnwood, Washington. Sensei Holloway is a great instructor with a wonderful sense of humor and experience in many different styles of Aikido and other arts. The students at his school get a very well-rounded training as well as becoming part of a martial arts family that does many things together on and off the mat.

Media

Project Censored:"The Mission of Project Censored is to educate people about the role of independent journalism in a democratic society and to tell The News That Didn't Make the News and why. Project Censored is a media research group out of Sonoma State University which tracks the news published in independent journals and newsletters. From these, Project Censored compiles an annual list of 25 news stories of social significance that have been overlooked, under-reported or self-censored by the countrys major national news media." Oh, and did I mention I was a part of it? You can read my article that was published in Censored 2006 at www.projectcensored.org/censored_2006/#18

School

Sonoma State University is where I did the greater part of my bachelor's degree. I graduate last June with a BA in History.

History/Archaelogy

The American Historical Association has good resources for those interested in, involved with, and looking for careers in the field of history.

The Biblical Archaeology Society puts out a good magazine, coordinates volunteers for digs, and features interesting articles about developments in the archaeology of the biblical world.

Books

Amazon.com has its corporate downfalls, but despite them, remains an extremely useful tool for evaluating, researching and obtaining books on all kinds of subjects - especially hard to find ones. Use the free super-saver shipping, because 9/10 times, they send it to you earlier anyway so they can remain spotless in your sight.

Inner Traditions is one of my favorite esoteric publishers.

Weiser is at the top of my publishers list when it comes to books on magic.

I will update this page as time goes on, so check back now and then for more cool sites to look at!
