You'll find me in the club... April 07, 2005 @ 9:34 p.m.

I did end up going to Sacramento with Greg last night, and for the most part it was worth it. We did a fair amount of chatting on the way over, and the building the club was in was very nice. I figured out by looking around that it was actually an Italian restaurant during the day, or at least it had been recently as much of the bistro decor was still up. Although this was an 18+ club (or at least for that evening anyway), I was able to get a wristband that entitled me to the purchase of alcoholic beverages. Mind you, I only had enough money on me for a cheap beer, but I'm finding more and more that one drink is all I really need most of the time.

The first hour or so was not that great. It took some time for people to start arriving in significant numbers, and longer still to start dancing. The music was God-awful and continued to be so for the better part of the night. Where is it written that gay men have to like Brittney Spears and at least three remixes of the damn milkshake song? I passed the time between chaperoning Greg, who assured me I could do my own thing but then appeared to follow me around for a bit, dancing like no one was watching, and crusing the place for any good looking guys who didn't look they'd be pressed in a stereotypical gay factory. Meanwhile, some kind of porn website that had an agreement with the establishment was trying to market themselves to the crowd via cheap trinkets and a free note passing service to guys you thought were cute. A girl was going around claiming to raise money for some obscure charity and promising donors they would get to see the guy that was accompanying her strip in return for a dollar or two. In one of my bitchier moods though, I refused a donation on the grounds that I really didn't want to see this guy in particular strip. Greg thought the drag queens who were running various contests and strip performances were the ugliest he had ever seen, but the worst of them couldn't compare to the ugly transvestite lady with the elephant sized neck I saw last week on the Queen Mary.

I was resigning myself to make the best of the evening through a combination of dancing on my own and people-watching, when a vivacious girl came up to me and informed me that she had a friend that thought I was really cute and would love to meet me if I was interested. Always charmed by the notion that someone could find me attractive, I let her escort me to a window table where a young, cute, and very shy guy was sitting alone. He wasn't the type I usually go for, but I figured that he was defintely worth a shot. I'm glad I gave it to him.
