This is one of the oldest and broadest areas of practical magic there is. I mean, pretty much EVERY group has their own rites and means and methods for generating and maintaining prosperity. Its one of the biggest sections in the bookstore!
Its hard to recommend stuff not really knowing who you are and what your background is, but I can toss a few ideas around for you. Basically, when it comes to good fortune, you might consider the steps to take in terms of polarity and a kind of magnetism, if you will.
First, you want to eliminate any negative influences in your life that are blocking or cursing you in this department. Usually this is self-inflicted by our own beliefs, past, and perceptions of things. The
angels are great for helping with that. Next, you want to draw and attract prosperity and prosperous influences into your life. To do that, you call upon the aid of beings who specialize in this area -- in planetary terms, this would be jovial beings for long-term, gradually earned, stable success and prosperity, and mercurial beings for short-term, easy-come-easy-go windfall money.
In tandem with your petitions for aid to the spiritual world, create sympathetic magic through rituals, rites, ceremonies, spells and charms that utilize the corresponding virtues within material objects and
symbolism. This can include all kinds of things, such as herbs, colors, stones and crystals, oils, candles, magical and astrological timing, mythology and religious stories and rituals -- the list goes on and on. Just search the internet for prosperity, money, and success symbols, correspondences, and virtues. Take a trip to your local Borders and
just spend some time reading in the magic section. You don't necessarily have to memorize a bunch of stuff (though often we do), but just get comfy and familiarize yourself with the resources that are out
there. A lot of us keep a couple reference books with correspondences and such in our personal libraries.
After things improve, its important not only to thank and reward the entities that helped you out, but also to take steps to ensure that the prosperity stays with you. This is a step that often gets left out, which is sad because then many people will just eventually lapse back into their former situtations. So do magic and take practical actions to make sure you don't sabotage yourself and that in your actions and in your life, you are able to successful maintain and even grow the prosperity you have brought in.
The only stupid questions are the ones you already know the answers to. Good for you for stepping up and learning. Keep studying and practicing.
